Can anyone give me any information about driving for the entertainment industry, based on "First Hand" experience ? I've recently talked to a driver over the CB about it. He said he was doing a tour with a country music entertainer. Said the job was great and he had been doing it for 14 years. Money sounded good too. Said you also got hotel/food per diem as well. No loading or unloading. But you know the old saying..."If it sounds too good to be true......." Any help? Good company to woork for???

you should have asked him how often he gets home. That's the problem with that field.

    MrChuck53 Thanks this.

He said that they normally pulled out of a venue on Monday mornings and would usually arrive at the next venue by Wednesday. That they worked the state, and played more than one city in that state so that they could keep cost down. That way you didn't really have any long hauls for the most part. He said that you would normally have from Wednesday afternoon to Sunday afternoon off, and you were free to do whatever, including go home. Just had to be back NLT Sunday afternoon. Said you have a Team Leader and you have to plan it with him. I know, sounds too sweet to me too. Thats why I was hoping to find someone who had some first hand expierence at this type of job.

    Here you go driver. http://upstaging.com/
Im sure these guys will be needing drivers next summer when U2 resumes their tour. I had a buddy work for them and only lasted a year due to the lack of home time. Pay is not that great, but lots of little perks. Lots of night driving and when your assigned to a tour you are on it until it ends. Good luck.

Talk to the upstaging drivers if you get the chance or another company called roadshows.
Most have you commit to the whole tour...
So if it lasts 6 months you will be out that long unless you get a long layover somewhere.
When show ends you get your arse moving to be at the next show city.
They have these things on a set time and do not be late..

Thanks, for the replys. I have talked to a company called roadshow or something like that today. They told me about Stagecall and Upstaging. Never did get the name of the actual company that driver worked for. Again it sounded too sweet to me too. Never hurts to ask around and get advise of other drivers.

Like I said the money sure sounded good. But maybe too good. Mostly short hauls too. In fact he said there was actually a little too much down time for his liking. Again it sounds too good to be true.
