Get him back on the truck? I'd prefer to just send him packing back on home, personally, but I don't know how desperate your company is for retention. Tell him to grow a pair.... if he's so quick to give up on this, does he really think he'll fare better at anything else, rather than just fold at the first sign of adversity?
Has anyone ever heard of this?

He didn't like driving at night so we started at 6am for the last two days and parked at 330-4 pm only to start driving at 6am so he would not have to drive at night. I have been taking it slow and almost babysitting him in adjusting to trucking. I know he can't run like I do solo off the bat nor did I expect him to. I don't know

Not trying to incite a riot here, or question anybody's skills, but the OP's profile says 1 year experience? I hope that isnt correct!!

I feel like I am driving to much also, but bills to pay and I like to play.
This is probably the best response, short and sweet. There is bound to be a failure rate, as a trainer, Newtrucker should realize this(and I'm sure you do)You can train all you want in a classroom, but nothing will prepare someone like actual driving. That should be the MOST important thing in a school, this job is rarely a 6 am -3:3o pm job. I prefer to drive at night, matter of fact, I wouldn't ever drive again unless it was a night gig. Wannabe's take notice!!!!
He is bound to get someone tougher than me who trains and they will say team driving I drive during the day you drive at night. When he says he doesn't drive at night he will be off their truck too. I didn't rush into teaming cause that isn't training but others who do it for money will see over 50 hours and hop right to it. He will probably then go to my first trainer didn't teach me anything. How would the other trainer know the student is telling the truth or if it's in fact his fault unless push comes to shove? Many others aren't as tolerant. *shrugs* he will drive his full hours in a team situation. No way he will get out of doing it with someone else.

When doing my research to decide which company I wanted to start with the most common complaint I saw was stuff like: "geez.. they make you drive like 9 to 10 hours a day."
I guess some people think they just gonna cruise down the highway for a mile or so and chill the rest of the day. -
