Personally I wouldn't try to get the student back on the truck. He's obviously not cut out for trucking. Add him to the list of other washouts!

Thought I was driving too much in my training for 8 weeks with my company too. I manned up and dealt with it. He will be the one on here once he goes solo asking about how to hook up video games in his truck.

if he does show up here for the meeting that should have started at 7am mountain time I will make it clear to the guy we are meeting that I will drive back to texas without student. He already showed his cards in my view when he packed up and left truck.

He was already talking about buying a peterbilt and decking it out so he wouldn't have to idle the truck. Thing is he would have to actually drive the truck.

Correction: He could hold the steering wheel. You do realize that babying adults actually hurt them in the real world, dont you?

How many students have you trained since you became trainer?I wouldn't let this guy get to you.As a trainer as long as you're doing your job right and its the fault of the trainee why he doesn't wanna do this or that I wouldn't worry about him,let him go and do his thing and hope for the best for himYou're going to find out you can't make every trainee happy. As ppl have said, hes not cut out for this profession and there is nothing you can do or should have done to change that. One thing you'll realize the longer you drive trk is ppl don't care about the other person that likes to whine and find fault with their company, their trainer, or other drivers. The proof is here on this thread, how many are defending the trainee?none that I see.As they shouldn't,the trainee needs to go home and decide if this is what he really wants to do.

with the way I run. 10 I'm down and then I drive had I started out with the mentality o have when behind the wheel and with this as the end result, he would not have gotten as many hours as he did with me. Starting at night he drove two hours and had to park and get more sleep. That is when I started slowing the process down. What he didn't like was me telling him when how and why to do the things required to not mess things up badly and kill himself, me or others.

You're correct. And the next trainer he gets if he stays will for sure be harder on him than I was. I determined he would not be getting on my truck again right after he told the guy last night he felt he was driving too much. There is no way he could twist it and say it's my fault he drove too much. He needs 200 hours. I gave him the avenue to do so at his own pace within staying legal and he didn't like the grind. He is in for a rude awakening sadly because he will have to drive alot. Now and when and or if he gets to solo status. Think he could have approached me and told me he wanted off the truck. Looks like I'm going to have to pull the blunt and this is real trucking card with each new student before the wheels roll so they know how I and my driver leader and planners like to run and what they are in for. If they stay after that they have only themselves to blame. Appreciate it patty

He couldnt hang. Plain and simple. Your 'slowing the process down' only prolonged the inevitable. In order for a wannabe to ever become a solid driver, he's going to have to already have a certain amount of toughness and a 'never quit' mentality. Your boy didnt even have one hard day and he quit.

    "2 hours".
