I just wanted to say you know for some who may not be cut out to truck, their are straight trucks with driving jobs that pay well to, that don't require a CDL, they may enjoy as a career.

Get this, as far as new people go. A friend works for a company where the boss (founder) is retired, but still has a his PERSONAL long hood 379 in the garage, and takes it out on rare occasions, but it's understood, NOBODY is to touch that truck. Well, a new hire, his 1st day, comes in, was assigned a Freightliner, see's the bosses Pete, and figures, I like this truck better, and TAKES IT! You can see where this is going, the boss comes in later to do a short run, and see's his truck gone. He blows a gasket, chewing everybody out, but it was the new hire's fault. When he got back from his run, they fired him on the spot! Man, we laughed about that!:biggrin_2559:

I agree and I'm with you. And I'm not exaggerating when I say 2 hours. We started at 4 am and he wanted to stop at 6am. And he fell asleep within 5 minutes of parking the truck.

How did nobody notice him putting his stuff into the wrong truck, hooking the wrong truck up to his trailer, the wrong person being behind the wheel, or him getting the wrong set of keys? Funny story, but it leaves a lot of questions.

God, they never tell you, do they? In training, no one ever says "Look, you've gotta be among the most persistent #######'s that's ever walked this planet. You've got to be so stubborn that you're willing to eat sleep and breathe this job, all in pursuit of getting it done right just to feel normal."

Maybe he thought he could be this guy. I don't think anyone is sure they can do this job, until they've done it for a while.
Be the guy standing in the back, after eating a plate of ####, and ask for more- eh?

MAN! I wanna find out where this kid got his balls from, because I'm gonna buy me a couple dozen sets when I find it!
Seriously, balls big enough to float a battleship around. That, or a head thick enough to take a 2X4 hit several dozen times.

I just...I can't even begin to understand the logic behind that!
Bad enough it's another drivers tuck, let alone your bosses boss!

I got a new student. Seems pretty cool. I was about to head from terminal in Denver and had my truck checked and 3 tires replaced. While I was waiting another mentor came in who will be down for 4-5 days so I'm going to complete his training.

Saw former student while going to get truck from shop. He is currently holed up in a truck. Don't know what's going to happen to him. Not really concerned either.

Hi WH, well, it was at night, nobody in the garage, all the keys were on a board, nobody else was around, and that's the kind of people that are out there. One thing for sure, he thought he hit the jackpot for about 10 hours.

Well, all good things must come to pass. I bet he caught a first class dressing down once he got back.
