That's a valid point but not the one he is presenting. From what he is saying any electronic safety device makes you a new breed steering wheel holder. The funny thing is, al these safety devices were researched cause people were crashing left and right. Take abs for example, if drivers never slammed on their breaks on wet or snowy roads rear ending or jack kniving into the car in front of them, no way would the manufacturers invested millions in designing abs.

Just because it pays more than others doesn't mean it isn't crap. Just means the others are stinkier crap.

I do not live in the past. I am a realist, and with the years of experience i have. I have the God given right to voice my opinion. I am not better than everyone, nor do i think this. I am glad that 90% of society must rely on technology to run their daily life. This is their personal preference. Just because i am of the opinion that the early days where a better breed of people, and the industry was not so regulated as it is today. Society and ignorance has made the industry so regulated in today's society. To you seeing my trucks. I do not really care what you think about me, or my equipment. I do not have to prove myself to you, or anyone else as to what i own, the age of my equipment, or anything else. You are right, as i do own a computer, as explained in previous posts.

I did not say, nor am i saying that accidents did not happen in the early days of trucking. It was not as pronounced as it is today. If you cannot admit anyone that the last 20 years has seen a real jump in regulations due to drivers doing stupid stuff, and putting it on social media, or just plain outright ignorant stuff. Backing accidents, drunk driving ( yes in the early days, drinking was something done at home, or if a driver had a layover) they did not go get in the truck and drive. I am not against drivers. I am against under qualified, ignorant drivers whom do stupid s--t and make it bad for everyone else in the industry. As for technology, if not for the research of endless accidents, social media, and such. Our industry would not have such a reputation for a bunch of uneducated, steering wheel holding, redneck, hillbilly, inbreed monkeys. In the early days from the 50's- mid80's the drivers were known as the "Knights of the Road", now the industry is known as basically traveler trash.

Also we need look no further than the ridiculous never ending fight about the HOS, and the newly formed C.S.A crap deemed necessary in today's industry. We did not have all this back in the day. Was no need for such crap. Drivers had accidents, and some issues with companies. The issue is that the industry got larger, more companies popped up, people were allured by the Outlaw, Last of the Cowboy persona. Look at how many companies have been shut down, put out of business, and so on due to the regulations, and laws needed to control our industry.

What would you contribute to all the mentioned issues of today's industry?

I am no technophobe, just smart and educated enough to be able to use a brain to do everyday tasks. I do not believe in letting technology, nor the manner in which people have such dependency upon them with all the apps to do everything except wiping their rear ends. This is my opinion, and how i feel, and as an American citizen i have this right. If there are those whom do not like my opinion. It is his/her choice to ignore it or give their opinion.

Exactly how old do you think social media is? Or the Internet for that matter? And adversely, how old are the regs? Better question, when were they conceived? Considering it takes years to craft, and implement a new reg... the bs the new generation is dealing with is a direct result of the generation before. That would be you guys. And me to certain extent. The current group of idiots are screwing the drivers that are currently 12 years old.....

Your handle here says bull hauler. Does that mean you pretty much 10 to go to the same pickups and deliveries all the time? If that's the case you could get by without a GPS and all the apps on the phone. These days places won't even give you directions. When you ask they say don't you have a GPS? If the GPS isn't working and I get somebody on the phone to give me directions. They are almost always clueless on how to get there in a CMV. It's unbelievable how people can work somewhere day in day out for years and not be able to tell someone else how to get there. The world is falling apart.
