Florida and Texas are an exception to my statement. I lived in NW tenn for 4 years and many had the best job they could get working at Walmart.

MADD and other anti truck organizations would not have formed if not for the accident rate, drinking and driving rate in both cars and commercial vehicles, and stupid action seen on the highways of CMV drivers

Well, i dont really think madd cares about big trucks, the cop thing im with you 100. I clarified my position a little in the post that followed the one you qouted. I redacted some of my position on it being the fault of any current generation or previous for that matter, but more so a result of the tech becoming readily available and at a cheap enough cost for those who desire to micro manage to do so..

Read what you just posted, adjusted for areas, in my area, $15.50 is a reasonable starting wage. Now, based on what you posted, find me 10 jobs in your area, or any area, starting at $20.19/hr just out of school no exp. for local. All of your numbers are based on your area, not nationwide. BTW, under the Masterfreight contract for YRC, starting wage for a Union driver, fresh out of school is $16.85/hr. FedEx Freight is hiring, 3 yrs exp., $18.15 in my area, UPS is advertising for drivers helpers, $14.50/hr no exp., new CDL A drivers for UPS in my area are $16.50, I have a friend that's been with UPS as a line haul driver, he's been there 23 yrs, line haul for 15, started off doing morning pre-load, after 3 yrs he lucked out and got a package van,, after he was able to get his CDL, he's making $75K. In other markets, that's $100K.

Not starting they don't, and if you say yes, then adjusting for exp., I can walk in there tomorrow and demand $35/hr and they will give it with a smile? Because I will do it, and I will take a copy of this discussion with me.

The only shortage I've seen is a severe shortage of freight at a good pay rate!

The thing that sucks about this forum, things can be verified. Per Glassdoor.com, YRC Freight Road driver, salary range is $30,000 to $97,761. In Denver, a road driver with 1 - 3 yrs exp., can expect a starting salary of $37,597 with a national average of $54,300, all based on data as of Nov. 24th, 2016.

Maybe in your area Fritolay starts at that, not in my area. Wife's uncle retired from Fritolay in route sales after 30 yrs back in 2008, $85,500 when he retired. Reading this post earlier, called and asked how it is today, he still has friends, OTR drivers start between $55K and $60K with 3 yrs exp. minimum, in some markets they pay more to start. He has a friend that just retired after 28 yrs in L.A. making $130K, different market, different cost of living, different pay structure.

Don't know where you got your info for Publix, per Glassdoor.com, based on 4 reported salaries for Truck Drivers at Publix, the avg. wage is $53,467/yr, with a salary range of $48,896 to $63,567 INCLUDING ALL COMPENSATION. Driver employment range is 3 yrs to 15 yrs. Data is as of Nov. 24th, 2016.

I have an account with Glassdoor.com, I get job updates and offers all the time.

The problem is, he assumes that what the pay is in Florida, is what they pay is in the rest of the country, they same with the cost of living, it isn't.
