So that great salary won't even get you a ####hole 1 bedroom apartment.

And base don data, your numbers won't get you one in Fla. either. Again, apparently you're not capable of reading properly, I'M QUOTING STARTING PAY, NOT PERMANENT 10 YRS DOWN THE ROAD PAY. Obviously you are part of the $15/hr minimum wage crowd.

$15 is too low even for an entry-level truck driver. Especially OTR.

Yep. Starting pay has to be high enough to support a family on.

If you add up all the hours you spend in that truck driving or getting loaded inspecting fueling etcetera it works out to less than minimum wage for most first-year drivers and then if you add in all the on-duty time you're stuck in that truck you end up making about 5 bucks an hour.

Why would you add up the off duty and sleeper berth hours? Do you think airline pilots get paid for every hour they are away from home? Ship crew? Oil riggers? Many industries require being away from home for extended periods of time, not just trucking.

That's right Spyder..........And in those other industries,The employees are paid Handsomely to be away from home-

I Know that the CSX and NS railroads are Near 100k starting salaties for Train Crew and switchmen...

I would imagine Oil Rigs- And Maritime employees are near the same.....

Only in stupid trucking are these large irregular route monstrocity carriers get away with 30-45k per year Subpar salaries.......And that's at a quality mega-Some of these 1099 Piece of garbage carriers get away with murder and screw drivers for LESS.

Point is...A True professional OTR driver with a Clean,Neat appearance,A Safety minded mindset,Should be in the 70-80k per year Range Not Including company paid benefits......

And I stand Firm on that..And Yes,The mega piece of chits can afford it,But Choose Not to.

For what its worth. An entry level pilot for southwest is under 30k a year. There was a big deal made about this a few years back when that plain crashed outside buffalo. Both pilot and co pilot were said to be operating under extreme fatigue caused by low wages. One lived in Washington state and had been up almost 24 hours conjuring to work when her shift started. Pretty much the same deal as the Tracy Morgan crash.

Also true professional experienced drivers are in the 70 to 80k a year range. They don't work for the megas.
