In eastern PA, there are multiple companies wanting to hire multiple drivers. Pay ranges from .43 to .47 cents a mile for a year of experience. Day cabs, some with sleepers for daily runs, regional, etc. there are several large distribution centers in the area. I would say there is a driver shortage in this region.

Well i never did drugs, ran two log books, and sure as he--l ain't new breed. Yes pills were big in the 60's,70's, and even into the early eighties. In theose days trucks were trucks, not these automated driven, steering wheel holdin, automatic shift trucks. They have become over rated, and expensive fiberglass pieces of c--p that if a pebble hits it, you have to replace an entire piece of plastic garbage.

In todays society of driver. The alcohol consumption, accidents, stupid crap on social media, and so on is why the industry is where it is today.

By the way, I have more respect for my self, and my manhood to sleep with some nasty, skanky, STD carrying lot lizard. I do not run speed limiters on my trucks, Qualcomm, dash cams, or any of that fancy electronic crap in any of my trucks. In the day the the only type of electronic device was the detex style clock on the dash.
I see these trucks with new advance crash warning devices, and all the electronic engines, and all the other so called safety devices drivers and comapnies need today. And they call themselves professional drivers. If they were professional, they would not need all the electronic gadgets, and stuff. Real drivers never had, nor needed these devices and we did fine. Accidents are accidents, but ignorance and stupidity is another reason the industry has become so regulated.

Here is Trump's actual position on H2b visa's
"Every year since at least 2008, Mar-A-Lago has requested anywhere from 70 to 90 visas to bring foreign workers into the country as cooks, waiters and housekeepers…..A Reuters’ investigation in August found Trump-related businesses have requested more than 1,100 visa workers including workers to till his vineyard and 250 models for his modeling agency."
    Trump is status quo

"Modeling agency" ... that's a clever way to disguise a machine that provides unlimited girls to satisfy a sick lust [of a few wealthy and well connected men in NYC] for young, beautiful, desperate women from all over the globe.

Two sides to every coin......the companies take advantage of their drivers.....
poor pay, bad equipment, no respect, etc.....

The other side is there are very few good drivers available. Good drivers have
a job or have left the industry. The fact is that companies have no choice but to
hire less than ideal drivers. I feel sorry for my boss. I have seen the quality of
applications he is getting. Out of twenty applications maybe one or two are even
    somewhat good drivers.

Half the drivers we have now won't check the oil, won't even kick the tires.
    Run with tires that are half flat. Couldn't care less about the truck or their jobs;
and these are the guys he took a chance on. Can you imagine the guys he rejected?

I saw a driver come into the landfill. He walked through the mud and maggot
infested garbage......in flipflops. Takes a really deplorable douchebag that can't
be bothered to wear proper foot wear.

Good drivers are about as scarce as good companies.......
