I am driving from Laramie Wyoming to Denver Colorado. Taking 287 South I am looking at County Road 72 which will bypass all the Fort Collins traffic. Just wondering if anyone has done this before. It later turns to County Road 70 and then to I-35 South.
looking at Google Earth it seems to turn into dirt for a little ways.
has anyone ever taken the Fort Collins Colorado bypass?

I ran the dirt stretch a few times when they had construction in FtCollins. Owl Canyon road i think it was. But that was years ago....
It was a good road then and I was light. It wasn't posted or anything.A Bug Thanks this. -
Just save yourself the hassle and run 80 to 25. It only adds 15 miles but it's so much faster.

PUT DOWN THE MARYWANAAA!!!!!! Think real hard about what you just said, you want to avoid a little traffic to go down some obscure county road you have no clue about and seem to think it may turn into dirt and you seriously are considering this as an option.

There is a port of entry on 287 in Laramie, they only want NB to stop and they like to have you come in with paperwork.

I don't know about 72/70 but I did take 1 to Wellington once...I don't remember it being too bad. I know Ft Collins is a mess right now (construction), I took 287 about ten days ago just to change the scenery and it made me wish I had just stayed on the big road.

It's more of a hassle than anything now, and there are a million deer up there at night. Its doesn't save anytime or anything to take it. Traffic can be horrendous once you get to the city limits,.(I know you mentioned nights)
