If the truck does not have one, I would add an exhaust brake to it. I had one on my 96 F-350 crew cab diesel and now on my Ram 2500 diesel. I don't haul anything but a horse trailer with living quarters but it sure helps on the hills. It will also save on you brakes if you use it when not in the hills. I have used several brands, the one I use now is BD Diesel Performance brake from http://m.thoroughbreddiesel.com/

As others said, no you do not need a cdl. You will be fine. That set up you have will pull like a dream. You wont even know there is a trailer behind you.

Have you ever seen what some of these VW guys do to the old Rabbits? It would boggle your mind.

Haha, here is my stupid truck.

1980 VW Rabbit Pickup with a 2006 Acura TSX motor in it with a Jackson Racing Supercharger. Weighs under 1800 pounds and makes over 350 wheel horse power on e85.

Before it was changed to air ride:

I bet that thing's a hoot to drive, though it's too low to play up here in NY. I've always wanted to dump a TDI diesel into one myself.

Very Nice. To each his own I guess. I could not myself putting that kind of dough into a 1980 VW. But it is a nice truck. Enjoy.

Initially, I thought you were trying to info on how to move cars for hire without doing it legally. There are lots who come on here trying to do just that. Regards.
