Yea I moved the load before but that was before the changing of the tanker definition came into play. I just know this place tried to load me before and they were just placed on the pallets....no labels not strapped or banded to the pallets.... I want a reason to walk away from the load...:)

So does that mean it has to meet BOTH criteria? It obviously meets the 1000 gallon threshold.... but not the 119. Which I assumed meant it has to be a container holding 119 or more...?

You're picking up a full load of this product, right?

If it's all the same product and weighing more than 8820 lbs, you'll also need placards showing the UN number.

To be safe, I would just consider it "either/or". If it meets one of those criteria, tanker endorsement.

Well not wanting the load is different then. 4 barrels to a pallet, each one with a diamond on it for the hazmat, shrink wrapped and strapped on every one. Constantly checking them. Straps will need a bunch of V or T under them to stay tight without hurting the barrels.

If you do not want this load, call your driver manager or advocate and talk to that person, make it clear your feelings regarding this load and some other lucky driver should deal with it. Things have changed since my time and they should take you off this load if you don't want to or simply wont do it. I am hoping the people in your company has some respect for you enough to understand that you do not want this load and give it to another driver.

These loads to me are like someone in the family asking to change a baby. What do we do with a task that no one really wants to do with the poo? lol. It's difficult. But bottom line, if you don't want a load for not wanting it, then don't do it. Bad things sometimes happen to people who are forcing themselves to do something they do not want to do.

I'm assuming 119 per container also. Not sure on the both criteria. Or either criteria.

No. It has to be both 119 gallon containers and the 1000 gallon containers. Otherwise you would need a tank endorsement to haul cans of beer and soda and such.

There have been a few threads about thss and there is always confusion. I would suggest that anyone not having the tanker endorsement, get it the next time you renew your CDL. The test is easy, mostly common sense (yes, I know i am asking a lot here), and if you read the CDL book from you DMV you should pass with ease.
