Tim I would get down to the FL DOT office pronto. Asking guys online is a start but we could easy lead you wrong and you would get into trouble from the state.
FL is one of the states that is harder than others on guys with the size operation you've got. Not quite a semi yet, but bigger than a pickup.

You don't need to have your own authority to get your DOT#, nor do you need to sign up with IFTA. Florida will also allow you to drive within a certain distance, even if going outside the state, but you'd have to consider how the other state(s) feel about that.
We moved from there last year. Nor do you have to worry about getting an audit because they said it's only for intrasate.Last edited: Feb 1, 2009
