Every day is a new day in gas hauling. Don't let your ego take over. No matter how much experience you have, you can still screw up. You have to be respectful and mindful of what you are doing at every rack. It demands extraordinary concentration and double check everything. I still do after all these years. This is no time to be complacent or ####y. You can make a simple mistake and wonder afterwards....how in the world did I do that!! Yeah, you can laugh about it later, but at the time you feel like a real fool. Good luck, stay focused. Gas hauling is a great job.

Every word worth gold. Complacency is the bestest problem in this business IMHO. It's also very humbling just like you say. After 8 months with this company I dropped 4000 gallons of leaded regular in the unlead super tank. It was at night and I swore I was at another station where the tanks were laid out like I dropped. That's why you double or triple check before you have any product flow. I worse felling is seeing the boss in the morning.

    SHC and WideSkyND Thank this.

I won't reveal some of the dumb mistakes I've made G/Hauler in my early years. But it made me stronger, more diligent
of the task and that we are all human, not robots. In fact, in a funny sort of way, it's good to make a mistake from time to time especially if you haven't dropped a clanger for awhile. Reason is, it forces you to refocus your efforts, keeps you on your toes and reminds you that disaster is lurking in the bushes ready to pounce as a result of a pinhead mistake. But it's still such a great rewarding job.

Fairly new at fuel hauling (January), but think I know where you're going with that. Compartment IDs are your friend. I set mine when I hook up the load head.
