Hauling Pups

    I think im going to be getting a job hauling pups here soon. Just wanted to get some advice on driving them, the do's and don't of driving them. So if there are any pup driver's out there your advice is highly appreciated. I really ain't got a good winter driving in yet so that's my only consern at the moment, but i guess it's like anything else take your time and if you don't feel safe get OFF the road. :biggrin_25525:

    Change lanes very slowly so as not to whip the rear trailer. Make sure the heaviest trailer is in the front. Quit looking out the mirror at the rear trailer swaying. It's not going anywhere. Don't pull in anywhere you will have to back out of. Make sure the dolly is latched to the front trailer and the safety pin is in place.

    Yup, about covered.. Just remeber for every 1 foot of swerve in the front, that equals 2 or more in the rear pup....Never jerk the wheel if you drop your tires off the road...always check your hook....

    Speaking of winter driving. Notice that a high number of doubles are either on their side or jacknifed in the ice and snow. Ice, snow, and wind do not go together.

    Don't drop a trailer with the dolly still under it and especially without putting the landing gear down first. The draw bar may well come flying upward and kill you. Allways make sure you can pull out of any place you pull in to and be real careful making U-turns as the trailers can collide and cause major damage if turned too tight.
