You can get a US customs transponder for a yearly fee of around 100 or $150 and then you don't have to pay the 10.75 every crossing, but you still have to pay the bridge tolls if there are any where you cross.

I have one of these...but they are pricey...

$211 initially and then $205/yr renewal.
The renewal is per calendar year. So end of the year it renews even if you bought one in Sept, like I did..
Its not 365 days from purchase. Best to buy at end or beginning of the year...

My company pays this just like tolls. If I get the transponder, it is out of pocket and no reimbursement. Pretty steep it appears.

    A BIG rate!

There's nothing out of Edmonton and once you leave there it's a big ride to somewhere.

This is why you bid it for the round trip and the people who dont know that screw the rest of us by hauling for a regular rate. Then if you score something up there BIG BONUS!

    Mattflat362 and Hanadarko Thank this.

no offense, but tell me something I don't know. Do you actually think I would post this thread and consider restructuring my business to haul to Edmonton if I wasn't on to something profitable ? I thought that went without saying. I've been looking at cheap lumber from north of Edmonton or deadheading back to the states. so far that's the only two options I've found. If you have a suggestion I'd love to hear it, I know how to count already.

I read somewhere that Canada will not allow trucks in that are running aluminum wheels. True or false?

    WOW> that's a good one!

Aluminum wheels are and have always been legal.
