My boss bought a truck in Tennessee yesterday and today was in Florida and got a citation because he dint have a permit to have the truck in Florida...prior to this we had called here in florida to find out what was needed to get the truck here from Tennessee and they said as long as the truck is under the insurance and not loaded its fine...why did he get the citation?
He had just purchased the truck and was bringing it back to Florida where the company is

-

This must be a CSA "unfit" basic violation for the Driver and the Company. Operating a CMV without a permit?
I have seen truck transport companies posting a special permit in the window during transport to the customer out of state.
The Boss or Driver should contact the Jurisdiction (County Clerks Office) and fax a copy of the Bill of Sale and ask to have the citation dismissed.mario01 Thanks this. -
I dont know much about this stuff but it says Commercial Motor Vehicle Citation / PermitHe got a weight violation and IRP/Fuel Tax Temporary Permit
Vehicle exceeding maximum allowed weight by 8,500lbs (truck is 18,500lbs) operating in Florida with a valid Georgia temporary non-apportioned registration (straight plate). No trip permit or IFTA decals. Penalty assessed in accordance with F.S. 36.515 (2) for all weight in excess of 10,000lbs. Also issued a 10 day temporary trip and fuel permit. -
What is "IRP/Fuel Tax Temporary Permit"?
-
mario01 Thanks this.

Oh ok...is this needed every time the company buys a truck from out of state? -
My boss said he knew that he had to have some type of permit but didnt know what it was so yesterday(my day off) he had everybody in the office calling to find out what it was before he left from the dealer with the truck but nobody knew...everyone kept telling him that it was fine as long as the truck was insured and he wasnt carrying any loads.

Pretty sure you don't need an IRP trip permit if you aren't loaded.
