Have any Ic's had any problems getting paid for detention, Vnu's etc?

I know that they will play games with detention on the company side. For example, if you sit there detained for 10 hours then you leave and basically take a 10 hr break there, they'll claim you took a 10 hr break and therefore, that doesn't qualify for detention. If you sit there for 10 hours, then take another 10 hrs on top of that, then they don't have a leg to stand on.

In relation to the cancelled load, sounds like you got the shaft there.

If they have to monitor what's being said, then maybe they should take better care of their IC's. Don't they have any cancellation fees? What did you sign a No Rumor clause?

I'm not happy with how that turned out, but I don't need to get a bunch of ***t started, so I guess I will just leave it at that.

Don't know how the policies work there at Schneider, but I think some companies don't like to ruffle feathers with who they deal with when it comes to detention pay, oh well let it slide mentality, because we don't want to lose their business. A lot of companies have a policy of after two hours past your appointment time, the detention pay starts. Most have to have a documented date and time of arrival on the BOL and a documented date of time of leaving on it. Husband has been to one Walmart DC that the paperwork stated unload time was 4hrs and they did not pay detention pay. Reefer companies really have long sit times on meat load, they can have a framework of let's say 11:00 to 23:59. Then 2 hrs after the drop dead time to load. It is best to figure taking a 10 at these places if they have parking in the area, then leave. And then if the pay isn't right and you have all your bases covered, it means that you are just a number is all to them.

Canceled loads may not pay that much for sitting at a lot of companies $50-$75 if you are lucky. Sunday does not count, it is a freebie usually.

Hope it works out better for you. Don't snap heads off just yet, but......
