Have / are companies laying-off contractors?

This question is addressed to O/O that have leased themselves to trucking companies such as Schneider, Crete, Celedon, ect. Does anyone have first-hand knowledge of companies laying off contractors, or just telling them sorry we can't keep you on ??? (Please, no rumors) I understand there are many ways a company can get rid of you, but I don't know how else to phrase the question. If this have happened to you, which company were you driving for ??? Thanks.
