I now have my hazmat and tanker endorsements and a twic card on the way. I am leaving MO for Corpus Christi, TX. tomorrow or Saturday.
Several companies are hiring in CC. I am interested in four of them in particular. Plains All American Pipeline, Mission Petroleum, Sun Coast Energy, and Sunoco Logistics.
I don't really know who I want to work for. They all have good benefits and pay. I could use some input from anybody who has any experience with these companies.

Hope you can speak Tex Mex. I left C.C. after a long time. Mission Pet on Corn Products rd, is a good place to start. Don't care for white folks much. The others I don't know. Dude the wages are so low, not worth your time. Don't believe me though. Friendly advice, make sure you have bus money home. Lived there 25 years, when I was home. Wonderful beautiful place if your rich. I wish you luck driver.

1) Plains- they have the pipeline and they purchase the oil so they have the contracts therefore you are not running as a 3rd party. This can make a huge difference when work slows down because trust me, the 3rd party carrier always gets run off first (been there lots!). Great bonus program and other good benefits. I run into one of their drivers up here and he loves them, said he isn't leaving them for anyone. He loves the $3300 quarterly bonus and said they leave him alone as long as he pulls his loads. He does 4 per night but only has to do 2 per night if he wants. Downside- drives a FreightShaker!
2) Sunoco- again you are not running as a 3rd party, they own pipelines and buy the oil. I have a couple of buddies who use to work for them, one said they were the JB Hunt of the oil patch due to lower pay but they have recently improved in that area.
3) Mission- run into a lot of their drivers at the Sunoco LACT. They are nice, professional and always seem ready to offer help/advice unlike some (Example: ULM). I met a driver the other day who worked on the Alaskan pipeline for almost 20 years. When you are looking to go to a company you want to find one who hires safe and professional drivers because just one bad driver can have a bad spill or do something stupid to get the whole crew run off. Which leads me to ...
4) Sun Coast- I talked to a buddy who works for them in Victoria. From what I hear it sounds like they are having trouble keeping drivers in Corpus. I've suggested Sun Coast to people in the past but mainly to those who don't have a lot of experience. I can tell you they have been run off a couple of accounts in OK. I was told they delivered water instead of oil in one instance. Like I said, surround yourself with quality drivers if you are going to work for a 3rd party. I know they do pay for your insurance and you are paid by the hour and guaranteed so many hours of pay per day even if you don't work. BUT if you are there to grind and make $$$ why would you want 6 hours of guaranteed pay at $20/hr when you should be able to pull down over $300 per day hauling crude.
These are my observations. Hopefully some others will chime in for you Chibob.Chibob and HeckIGot2Go! Thank this. -
Thanks Rockdoctor; Who do you think offers the best tanker training? I have pulled just about every trailer except a liquid tank so I would like good training. Other than that I have been leaning toward Plains as a first choice.

How difficult was it for you to get your twic card? And how do you go about doing it? Thanks in advance for any info
-
It's just somethin(twic card) I was thinking of getting to supplement my resume IF I start looking for oilfield type jobs
-
The TWIC card isn't that hard to get---if you qualify for a hazmat endorsement you will qualify for a TWIC card, in fact you get a small discount on the background check if you recently went thru a HAZprints check. The only problem is the TWIC card procedure can only be done at a city that has a port ! As an example Denver, CO where my domicile is has no place to do it, even though it is a large metropolitan area---Lenexa,KS is the closest place probably the MO river qualifies as a port area.Go to the TSA website to get more info--also you must pickup the card at the same place you do the TWIC card at--no mailing of card!

If not just call them up, get an appointment at your closest location and go pay $129.00 and wait. -
I know Sunoco has a training program. That's about all I know. I hear its 4 weeks if you have no tanker experience and 2 even if you do. I researched a lot of companies and chose Sunoco. I'm waiting to start soon. Good luck.
Chibob Thanks this.
