Sunoco sounds pretty picky when it comes to safety but if you have pulled other stuff the tanker is not bad and I would not let that be a deciding factor when selecting a company. Aim for stability, excellent pay and benefits, and a place where good drivers are being hired. Stability is key because if you have to miss a week of work while the company tries to scrounge up some loads, a quarterly bonus isn't going to make up for that lost week.

Really it comes down to what you are personally seeking. We drive 18 speed Peterbuilts that were brand new when we started. I know drivers here who have been offered work at other places with better benefits but they are Peterbuilt freaks and won't leave for an automatic KW or 8 speed Freightshaker!

If my situation here changed drastically I would go and work for Plains in a heartbeat. I don't like jumping around from company to company so I would look for the company which has stable work and rewards their drivers with benefits and bonuses.

It looks like Leopard St is the place to look for work in CC. However I can't find any listings for Sunoco in Corpus Christi.

Their western headquarters is in Abilene. That's where you would need to interview. Did you apply online? I think that's the first step before you have to take. I know they are hiring in Corpus Christi, they offered me a position there. I don't believe you can just go to the terminal and get much accomplished. Let us know what you find out.

Plains All American Pipeline is going to be my first choice. Sunoco is second on my list. Both are oil companies not contract carriers. But I will work for whoever hires me.
