Okay, so I'm just a few months shy of getting what seems to be the magical number of two years. I'm pretty much ready to leave the medium sized team based otr company I'm at. I have clean criminal and driving record. Any recommendation on a good local/ltl outfit in north Carolina? I don't want to job hop and wherever I go I'd like to stay for awhile. Hell, I haven't quit my current job yet and it was my first and I'm just ready to finally make some real money and have a life again lol. Not afraid to work hard either. Just wanting some tips on where to look and what to avoid thanks in advance guys.

Thanks, I'll look them up. That's ridiculous money compared to what I'm getting now.

R&L Carriers is a good one; several terminals in NC.

Yea I see their trucks a lot. I'll look into it. Random question, how strict are ltls on facial hair?

The chemical tanker sector has a lot of terminals in NC. Work can be local or regional and is well paying and easy too.

You don't say where you are at in N.C. If you are around the Triad or Charlotte, you can almost pick your own driving job.

I'm sort of in the middle of them all. I'm in western nc, 30 minutes from Winston, 45 from Greensboro, and a hour from Charlotte. And currently in position to move here soon so I can get closer to any of them. Thanks again y'all.

Sorry you felt like you had to wait two years until you could get an LTL gig. That's old hat - doesn't apply anymore. The world of LTL has changed and it is no longer a common stipulation to have to wait 2 years before getting hired at an LTL company. Major LTL companies like Old Dominion, ABF, Conway-Freight, Estes, and others do not require 2 years experience. All the ones I just listed will hire student drivers with no experience. A lot of the hiring opportunities will depend on location - not experience. Each terminal will hire according to need. Take a list of LTL companies, go to their respective websites, and type in your zip code to look for a local service center or terminal. Then contact the terminal manager or whoever is in charge of hiring. Again, some areas are tougher to get hired on at an LTL company - location, location, location...

Thanks for the reply, I don't know everyone I talked to stressed the two year thing. And I believed it. The fact that my join date was two years ago and I'm just now posting should show it lol. Thanks for the heads up because it's really hard to know which companies to look at as anyone can make look good on craigslist lol.
