Well, I'm not in your shoes, nor am I trying to tell you what you should or should not do. But I really don't think I would cross that picket line. But that is just me.
-
Sounds to me like the union should have taken the offer. They want the company to pay for increases we will all see because of Obama Health Care.
Injun Thanks this. -
Yeah...Teamster are all for the Obama plan...until they have to help pay for it. What, did they think they were going to get off scot free?
I thought premiums were supposed to go down with that new law...that was one of the selling points to get people on board with it. Did I miss something?
Cross that picket line proudly and hold your head up doing it. They made their bed, now it's time to sleep in it. -
Just another example that the Unions continue to destroy this Country!
-
Not the way it ended up. It was and is a free ticket to the insurance companies to charge whatever they want and it is business as usual with the exception they have to cover everyone and pre existing. It also allows them to charge whatever.
Our lives have been sold to corporate america.Ranger_309, voytek and johnday Thank this. -
The more I research this the worse it looks. Stepan already pays 80% of the health care premium for its workers. Union wants 100%.Injun Thanks this. -
I know when I worked in the accounting field, the employer paid 100% of the employees cost of the insurance. It was not a union, but it was a nice perk.
How many truck companies do it?
I cannot blame the teamsters for wanting this for the employees. However, it should stop there and the cost of the family is from the employee, not employer. -
That's my point. Unions always want more, more, more. Just like that spoiled kid in the grocery store. More is never enough for the unions. And this is a fine example of just that.
Mr. Roadmedic, at what point will people begin to take some responsibility for themselves? It's not an employer's job to pay for health care. They only have to provide an opportunity to access it. With the passage of that law, premiums are going up. The company may have only two choices: pass it on to the union that was so gung-ho for this debacle or fire employees and expect more from those remaining. Or fold and close its doors. Then nobody has a job. -
How long ago was that. I don't blame them either for wanting 100%. Health care premiums really escalated in the 90s and many companies(not just trucking) that used to pay 100% began sharing the cost with employees. My wife works for Blue Cross and even she doesn't get 100%.
