If I do my tankers test and I pass the test, do I need to renew my CDL license immediately at the DMV?
OR can I come back to do doubles test and then renew my CDL with both endorsements?
It's just a waste of money to pay the renewal fee twice, my DMV will only allow one test at a time.
Any advice?
Have to renew CDL immediately after test?

Old Dominion, XPO Logistics, ABF Freight, etc ...will all expect/need ALL the relevant CDL endorsements.
Those are the better paying carriers that will also have you home daily.
Thus -- consider the endorsement fees & expenses to be an investment -- & NOT an expense.

Take both tests ( tanker / doubles ) and then add them on ( add- ons don't cost that much ) and your good to go .
FYI - till there on your license , dont haul the tanker or double.tscottme Thanks this. -
If its only a day or two apart I most likely wouldn't stand in line to get the upgraded license.
If it is going to be a few weeks and might lead into more time, then I would get the new license with the new endorsement.
My recollection is you pay for the new ID card when you applied for the endorsement. So its just the time wasted sitting in line waiting. -
