Typical humans. Selfish more than well meaning, I feel.
Dependence is rarely if ever a good thing, and they were creating it. More for their own feelings than for the deer.

This reminds me of one of the funniest things I have ever seen. It was a mother eagle trying to teach her young eagle to fly. That baby was determined not to leave the branch he was clamped on. The mother began with just showing him with a short flight and coming right back to his side. The next step was the mother nudging the little one , that did no good , he clung to the branch they shared. I couldn't stop laughing watching this mom eagle getting frustrated , she got to the point where she was getting a flying start and whacking him on the back trying to knock him off the branch ,hitting him hard to try and make him fly. I had to go , and I left laughing, when I returned they were gone and I knew the Mother had won, and so had the baby but maybe he didn't know it yet. That lesson was love , she taught him , independence.

Some of the best and happiest people I know are single. Nothing wrong with that. What ever you do don't change. You make me laugh, that is always a good thing. For me anyway.

We have many communities in the areas around and within San Antonio city limits and the hill country that feed deer and basically let them run around the neighborhoods like pets or ferrel cats.

Dear are nothing, try living in Alaska and hitting a moose, which is much larger than a horse. They often flip up onto the hood of the vehicle and come right through the windshield. Happened to a buddy of mine. I was following home one night. He hit a moose And leg came right through the windshield crushing his face. He lost an eye and had to have about a dozen plastic surgeries on his face. Broke his eyesocket cheekbone cracked his forehead and everything else. It was unreal. Main thing to remember is don’t make any abrupt moves or overreact if there’s a deer in your path. Most of the time all you can do is just hit them. Especially if you’re driving a big rig.

I hit a sheep early one morning. Topped a hill on a 2 lane country highway, 3 sheep on the right side of the road. They saw me about the time I saw them. They ran back across the road, 2 of them made it.

Didn't hurt the truck (Kenworth T600,) but didn't do the sheep much good. Drove about 5 miles to the next town, reported the accident to the local cops, and went to the closest truckstop, to wash the schmutz off the front of the truck.

I live in a complex of 48 tenants( 6 buildings, 8 apts. each) and being fenced in, the deer think of it as a safe place. We have no less than 10 deer that call it home as well, crapping all over. The people here, all elderly, can't seem to understand, our food is poison to them( and us) and we've had the CPW here a couple times to shoot them, because they are sick. On the way to Gunnison , Co. one day, I came over a rise, all traffic stopped. Why? This is no $#i+, there had to be , IDK, 100, maybe more, mule deer blocking the road. Couple dead ones, but generally not moving. I and others, inched their way through, but Co. has even put up info boards, warning of packs of deer.
