Wow y'all jump to conclusions pretty quickly. I actually took the time to read the article. Pretty informative. Anyone wanting to enter this line of work should be aware of the possible dangers that come with the job.
Have you ever felt dizzy or lightheaded after gauging an oil tank?

Trucking Jobs in 30 seconds
Every month 400 people find a job with the help of TruckersReport.
-
Why would you favor one over the other? I found the article pretty objective.
-
Those of us working in this industry ARE aware of the dangers. Many of us are also tired of so-called "journalists" with personal agendas causing unneeded problems for us.RockinChair and BoxCarKidd Thank this.
-
Because I'm in the industry as well. Those of us who work it know the dangers and have extensive training. All these so called journalist for the most part are not being objective. They have a one sided agenda for the most part and are paid by the anti's. Any job can be dangerous without the proper training but we get paid for our knowledge and skills

I noticed that Emily's email is @insideenergy.org.
So I went to www.insideenergy.org, and I could tell just by looking at some of the headlines that this organization is not pro-energy.BoxCarKidd Thanks this. -
Ding ding ding !!! She was called out right in the beginning. She was such an obvious little troll
-
She contacted me for an interview, I didn't end up following through with it. Yes there are dangers and yes I have been gassed. Not the best experience I have ever had.
-
Not everyone working during the boom knew all the dangers. Sure Haliburton guys get extensive training but alot of guys, myself included, did not. Sure we were shown how to hold your breath stand upwind and close your eyes, but not much else. I did receive H2S training but there are many things that can kill you or get you sick. All kinds of stuff in that water, I read about NORM on my own. Still dont know exactly how dangerous lightning is when hauling a tanker full of hydrocarbons lol. I know everyone was making the big bucks and accepting the risks but Im sure there were dangers they chose to not inform us of as well.

I believe I heard your story on NPR. Are you the one who did this story? I heard this a few weeks ago. It was a good bit. I haul gasoline. I don't gauge tanks like oil field guys but I definitely don't want to breathe this nasty cancerous mixture in.

Opening the hatch when Skimming PW tanks on high volume SWD or oil wells will quickly get your attention. Lots of pressure stored up inside and they even have blown the fiberglass top off a few of them, until they created different outlets to release the gas. Some of the new 4 lateral wells can be interesting.
