I know one who does a pretrip every morning. Earlier this week I hooked up to a trailer and found two flat tires, three bad torque arms, and a dry hub.
Just because you don’t see it, doesn’t mean none of us do it. Maybe you associate with the wrong people.
I don’t think so. There is a right way and a wrong way to do things, and I have no tolerance for for lazy and stupid. If a hell of a lot less people did, the entire industry would be that much better off. It’s easy to spot lazy and stupid just by what their trucks look like, and if I ever wind up in a position of road testing people I will not contribute to that.
I had a hard time adapting to the LTL business, but if I did it so can anybody else. All one needs is a little pride and the desire to get better.
Who doesn’t? I’ve been doing this almost 25 years.
Maybe cheaper, but sure as hell not better. Cheap isn’t good, and good isn’t cheap.
I read last week that shippers and receivers are finally beginning to get fed up with the walking disgraces like this guy, and all I can say is what the hell took so long?

Have you ever seen or heard of an experienced driver failing a pre employment road test?

We had a re-hire come back and fail the driving test when I was in orientation. Idk how much experience he had total, but presumably he's passed the exact same test in the exact same equipment at one point.
