Youre acting like sales agents dont exist and theres no possible way any of THEIR hauling contracts ever go wrong.
I know im in a relatively unique situation. But im also pretty sure this is how it SHOULD be, the driver is the face of the company, they trust you to haul their freight, keep up on tons of other things, why not interfacing with the customer too?
Im also in a much better position to set a rate because i know how easy/hard a place is to deal with, what kind of bs it will be to load/unload the closer i am to the customer. And if theres any change, its far easier for the chain of communication to be far shorter.
Have you guys read this?

They want everyone short of somebody with their own corp and operating authority to be classified as employees. It's a tax grab and loophole closer...they want the responsibility of all the tax withholdings and accounting stuff to be laid at the feet the companies, which are easier to keep tabs on than hundreds of thousands of 1099 IC workers. I suppose you could argue there are some worker's rights issues that might get sorted out for the better as well. If all the shady sleezebag outfits had to start paying the drivers proper W-2 paychecks it would either drive them out or force them to clean up their act, and I would be fine with either.
NightWind, fordconvert and W Bench Farms Thank this.
