I own a 2020 Freightliner truck. I recently discovered that the rear differential oil cap was installed backwards by the manufacturer. .
And crazy things is . Which drain the old oil
    When I found this
Have anyone met this before? I thought this is the big mistake

I’ve heard of this but hadn’t seen it till now. It’s a plug. Same kind as a freeze plug in engine blocks. Dig all the crude out of it and see. Manufactures attempt to make them a “sealed” unit like all the new cars with dipstickless transmissions.

at first I didn’t believe it either, but this was the only cap where oil could be added. In the end, I went to the nearest mechanic, and we ran a lot of effort to pull it out.
This was be installed backward from factory

You mean there was no drain plug at the center bottom nor a filler plug on the top or front side ?

I can only speak of the ones that I’ve seen, but they have a small 3/8 pipe plug on the front of the diff and seems it’s only the front one. The rear is in the same old spot.

    Diesel Dave Thanks this.
