I hate to put set of new tires and have em go bad after few trips. It has a new airbag, and newer brakes. Seems it all happen in the last 20k miles

    Thats not good.

I think a proper major alignment involving all axles is in order plus a scan to find if there is any twist or failure in the frame etc.

Our last truck pretty much put on 220000 miles in less than a year with one change of tires to brand new. Everything else with the exception of trans problems and alternator replacements etc was original when we turned it in.

    I have always wondered.
If the problem is the shock, why does it just affect one tire?
If the problem is alignment, why would it not affect both sides on that axle?
My log trailer will always were the right 2 tires on the front axle at least twice as fast as all the others, everything has been changed. I have to believe the axle it self is bent just a hair right at the spindle for it not to affect any other tires.

The idea of a bent axle involves a serious harmonic to be setup that will chew on the differential on one end and bearings on the other end at the wheel.

Not to mention abusing the driver's spine to the point he or she might refuse to drive the pain mobile.

It leaves a very good idea from Starmac in post 13, a very good idea. Something worth looking at.

However personally I have had axles come out with duals on them ends after bearings were crushed and crumpled. Those things are huge. It will take a hell of alot to hurt them Me thinks.

Bushings will cause the inside tire to wear, usually on inside only. That tire looks to been run low, maybe in a previous location, drive? Once a pattern develops, it’s too late.Sometimes a drive position will not get much worse, but trailer real quick.

You say new airbag? As in just one side? Did this problem start after the bag was installed?

Something unrelated, I just noticed. My air leveler adjustment on my trailer was low, My brakes were locking up while empty. Adjusted it up to proper height, no more locking up. Never put those two together before. Learn something new everyday.

Its a drive axle tire that is on a drive axle since new.
I honestly don't think it ever ran low air.

Yes, airbag was leaking air so we replaced around the same time we started to notice the tire wear or just before we noticed it. Around the same time, other side bearing was replaced.

If mine was locking up then both tires would be going bad.
