So basically every time I start my engine my inverter turns off then on again. I have my PS5, Modem and TV plugged into it so I can’t even watch TV or play my game if I want to be on optimized idle because once the engine shuts off and then back on it’ll turn everything that’s plugged into the inverter off then they all cut back on again, and that’s bad because it could damage my game system. Does anyone know what the problem could be or have a solution? Or should I just bring it to my terminal’s shop for maintenance. It’s a 2025 FreightLiner Cascadia. Any insight would be highly appreciated.

I don't know. But if everything else fails to fix the problem you could put a UPS between the inverter and your devices.
    (UPS - uninterruptible power supply)
That way, the inverter would be powering the UPS and the UPS would be supplying power to the devices.

I seem to recall my inverter doing the same thing when truck was started.

As mentioned above. Buy a power supply to power your devices. Use the inverter to keep the power supply charged up.

Probably nothing at all wrong with the inverter. The starter motor will suddenly draw a couple hundred amps when it starts cranking the engine. Just isn't enough power there to supply the inverter with the correct voltage for the couple seconds of cranking. Probably best to do as suggested above and get a UPS unit.

Almost all vehicles interrupt ALL POWER during the moment starter is engaged. Some small, low current circuits are wired to the battery directly (unswitched circuits).

Since inverters are expected to supply lots of power they are almost never connected as an unswitched circuit. What you could do is plug in an Uninterruptible Power System between your inverter & the devices you want to run continuously. They can power your devices for the few seconds in which your current setup looses power. You need to pick a UPS based on the total power need of your devices. There are online calculators.

STOP BUYING MODIFIED SINE WAVE JUNK INVERTERS.

BUY A GOOD INVERTER THAT DOES THE JOB.

I've been using the one at the link for the past 8 months and have had one failure.

Disconnect all your truck batteries and put a volt meter to each one. Probably got one or two that aren’t healthy..bad cell or two.

I got a battery going bad and I suspect it’s why my digital dash crashes every time I start it now..almost every time.

Somehow. I don't think it matters what's bought. They'll all shut off with the starter motor.

Inverters should be wired directly to batteries with the proper sized cable, which is to say BIG on most decent inverters, 2 gauge up to 1/0 or 2/0 even.

If it's a decent inverter and your batteries are strong starting the truck shouldn't make any difference. The most I ever get is a low battery 'beep' from my inverter the moment the starter engages.

If it's not your truck you probably can't modify this stuff much but you need a good inverter (PSW as Ridgeline stated above preferably), wired directly to batteries with the proper cable and fuses/breakers and you need good batteries which you know the condition of.

How many batteries does this Cascadia have?
