The load boards aren't going to help much to answer your questions about rates and volume. I'm also not sure if the DAT public view has actual live data and isn't just a demo mode. Unless you have someone who knows what they're doing over your shoulder, you're not going to see what you think you will. Hard to explain, but most of the value isn't in the load listings, it's in the search results for a lane. Think big picture versus a directory of brokers to call on.

Load board posts are a starting point that serves mainly as an introduction. Once you establish some working relationships, you depend less and less on the load boards. You'll have a short list of people you know who usually have what you want and start with them. Look at the board just to see volume and make sure your offered rates are in line with the market.

Maybe I missed it, but if you share what kind of equipment you have, someone will pipe up with some generalizations. Nobody is going to give up their golden goose, but may talk in general terms of where opportunity exists or not, along with how rates on a particular lane/commodity might run.

Yep. Legit concerns. What do you want to do?

You started this thread so clearly you want to be an o/o. I suggest you raid your wife's purse and snag your balls back.

I see where you're coming from, but it's not just that.

When me and my wife first met, I interviewed with CR England. (Yes, I was even dumber then than I am now) It was thirty days out at a time.

After the interview, we're outside. I'm all bright eyed and bushy tailed with a smile on my face. I said: "So whaddya think?!"

She literally burst into tears on the spot.

People grow closer, they also grow apart.

You've got one life, don't let someone else tell you how to live it.

I lucked out on the red light runner as far as time in the shop. It was only a couple of days for that repair. The prosecutor said he would get me my deductible back, but I have yet to see it. I took a day off work to go to court the first hearing. I probably would have to do the same again if they were to take a warrant out on him. I figured I lost enough time already and just let it go.

Some of y’all need to get your families in order.
if you gotta run on your own to feed the family then the family needs to understand. Everywhere I look someone is afraid of the wife. If your not happy with your current job then your going to stay unhappy. Move to something you like and spouses need to understand sometimes sacrifices are needed.

Also if your break even is $2.5 then your bound fo failure when industry hits downturn.

my suggestion is get a truck run Power Only for For a big outfit.

$1.2-$1.50 is the target break even point so you can at least stay afloat during the downturn.

No excuse to lock a woman into an unhappy marriage, just because you want to do whatever you want to do. If that's the case, then don't get married in the first place. But if you do, then now you've got responsibilities that extend beyond yourself.

That's my piece. I honestly don't really give AF if you agree.
