You are about to get involved into something really awesome. And at the same time will take you a while to get the endorsement. More trouble to get this one than any of the others.

Study study and study. Hazmat is essentially 9 divisions. Class one through 9 Class One is explosive, Class 7 is Radioactive. Then you have your UN Numbers that describe precisely what product it is. Plus a Hazmat response guide for the current year. You will need a phone number 24/7 ready to call in case of leakage etc. And other small things to think about with these things such as more than 1001 pounds must have diamonds and so on, with very few exceptions.

The biggest simple thought for you is to learn how to be picky. As in really picky around hazmat load. You cannot allow dispatch to walk all over you telling you aww run it because it's almost 4 o clock on friday afternoon.

 

I just renewed my Hazmat. Here on TTR are the tests. I also downloaded DMV Genie from the App Store and just did all the free practice test. I did both Hazmat and tankers. I did the practice test from both sites for one week, off and on. When I went to do the Hazmat test(that’s all I needed to take), I only Missed 1. Trick question but PASSED. The next day went to TSA for my federal background check. Beware, if you have any felony convictions, it will delay the process.
