Haz-Mat Insurance/Tanker

    Getting the run around from my insurance. Who can you reccomend on getting hazmat insurance. This would be for light oils petroleum(gas,diesel,Ethanol,biodiesel)(tanker work. Any help is appreciated.

    Just starting out?

    Time to develop a relationship with an insurance broker who understands trucking.

    Without a proven safety history [low experience mod] a pro might be able to shop you enough to fund someone who will write you. Expect it to be expensive. Possibly twice your worst estimate.

    On the plus side, everything you listed is considered petroleum, so it only requires $1 mil coverage.

    It's funny I'm doing some checking on what customers require for coverage. And it's all over the board. Liability being the biggest swing in coverage.

    the one million is the DOT minimum liability required for table 2 hazmat.

    Nothing prevents the shipper to require more coverage and/or be named as 'additional insured'; even demand an umbrella of excess liability coverage...
