    What do you mean when you say be a sub hauler? Own authority and pick up their extra work? I would imagine in that case that HM insurance for a new authority could be cost prohibitive.

    Any other state you could lease to a HM carrier and run on their insurance but with the AB5 stuff in Cali is that even an option for you?

    sky high insurance and crazy liability - that is what comes to my mind first ...I was thinking of switching to local fuel hauling but I had to give up my authority and lease under , be on schedule ...still thinking

    I thought all one had to do was become a LLC/Corp to get around that AB5 mess?

    I don’t know what they’ve decided. But the second part of the test is where leasing to a carrier gets iffy because you’re not supposed to be an IC if you’re doing the same work as the company who hired you.
