HazMat and violation tickets

Oh. My apologies.

 

Been driving hazmat 22 years in Cali. This is new to me. I’ve been busted going over 15 in my POV a couple of times, no mention of hazmat.

 

In 1990 I was hauling ocean cans in the bay area OAK/SF . I got a number of speeding tickets an just about lost my licence for awhile. I was one point away and got popped again. When I called DMV I was told if I removed my hazmat it would change the amount of points I could get.
Hazmat less points.
No hazmat, more points allowed.
So I took it off in case I couldn't beat the ticket. I did beat it though.
Then went 3years no citations
Then 6yrs no citations
Then 18yrs no citations
All but one were CMV tickets

 

I think in Florida if you get a DUI, on a CDL you get 1 year but if you get busted on hazmat you get 3 years

 

I've always had HazMat and now pull HazMat. I've never heard of any such double jeopardy rule.

 

I think you are saying FL could suspend your license for 3 years if you get a DUI while pulling HazMat, right? I don't think if you get a DUI and you just happen to have a HM endorsement on your CDL you could be suspended for 3 years. Maybe I misunderstand.

 

Yes, I think it is while pulling hazmat and your drunk it's 3years first offence. If you are non hazmat it is 1 year

 

I think OP was referring to folks who told him about double points if hazmat endorsement etc... those would be his bosses trying to scare him I guess.

 

I know in Arizona if you get a DUI, and you have a CDL with a hazmat endorsement, you just lost your license for 10 years. Not suspended, revoked.
