It's when you start treating "run of the mill stuff" different from "dangerous chems" that you get in trouble. Either way my main goal was to not get one drop of any of it on me. Or on the ground.

A placard is nothing to mess with. I hauled out of FMC Mobile in Axis, Alabama. Sometimes hazardous waste, sometimes raw materials, other times final products. Smooth bore, isos, dry vans, containers.

Nope, there is a big difference for me. If I have to run some kill you quick inhalation hazard crap every day, 100K a year would be way too less. Would not do it. Same thing with the highly acidic crap and highly explosive crap.

It doesn't bother me but do they have automatic or manual trucks?

And does anyone know if they pay as advertised? Their is another company here in Buffalo called Ficel that hauls steel that I'm interested in.

Orientation was instructive, laid back, fun. Office people were nice and lunch provided daily. The safety director was also driving this stuff for a while he has said he had gone through lot of stress at times and still kept to it there so he knows his stuff. Good people staff not many places up here like that, I got a sense of da south like tx there..
Anyway tho I signed with Carlisle Carriers at .58 loaded and empty...1st week in the books.

    Hello everyone I'm back,

I realized I started this thread and I'm in the process of being taken by hazmat environmental. Just waiting for operations to give dispatch the go ahead to give me a offer.

Me and my wife are worried that it's not going to be what it seems. They told me about 5-6 day dispatch and I seen what they average a year. The woman. Told me 80-90k. Anyone here in the Buffalo are work here? Can you tell me what training is like. And how are the day to day operations. How's your home time and pay. And is it am enjoyable job and somewhere I can work for my career. I'm 27 and want to find somewhere and stay

    Thank you

I, too, am interested in the job. I live about 10 minutes away. I'm just curious about hometime.

They have terminals at Buffalo and Cincinatti. I drove for them back in 2004 or2005. They talk a good pride filled line, but when you tow that line, they change. Was running from Cordova IL to Cottage Grove MN, was called in southern MN for a random drug test and could not immediately do it, and then they said do it this afternoon after you deliver. In training they said once you are notifies, that is the next thing you do, period. Did what I could but not good enough for them. When they discpline a driver, they have you calling in every morning, but suddenly no work for today. I worked from St Paul Stockyards Truckstop, but now the trucks are parked at Roberts WI Freightliner Dealer. They have about half of the fleet domiciled across the eastern United States. You get licensed to haul Hazardous Waste where ever a license is needed. Many of the employees are sick from being around Hazardous Materials. When I took my truck back to Cincinatti, the guy that helped me unload my car I had inside the trailer, had blood running from his nose and he said it happens every now and then. The Owner, Dennis shows up at orientation and tells about starting the business with very little money or credit. I was handicapped as I do not breath fast enough to pass a Pulmanory Function test, so I could only pull vans and haul barrels. A senior driver that had been with company for many years had taken my load from St Paul to Cottage Grove, instead of going to a harder to find 3M facility. I had to do the load he was dispatched on, then a few years later, I was at TA in Burns Harbor IN, and he had cut the corner too short and twisted up a loaded tanker trailer on the driveway barricades. Karma works.
