Do any of you guys know how to do hazmat fingerprinting done in Texas? I have CDL permit. Do I need to go to DPS for some reason or can I directly make an appointment at an IdentoGO location by using TSA hazmat website? Anybody has done hazmat fingerprinting with only permit in Texas?
    Thanks

No, you can't get hazmat in Texas until you have your CDL. After you have your CDL, you'll take the hazmat test at the DPS office. If you pass, they'll give you the info you need to schedule your fingerprint appointment at Identigo. You have to take the written test before you can fingerprint. This is different than it's done in other states. I just went through this a couple weeks ago.

I wanna apply to YRC CDL Driving Academy to get CDL A in Fort Worth. They require hazmat fingerprinting before starting their CDL school. My local DPS, Weatherford, TX, didn't allow me to get endorsements when I got the clp. I am confused. YRC doesn't allow starting to CDL school without hazmat fingerprint done. So it seems there's no way to get in this CDL program?

Have you talked to them or just going off what’s on the website? What they’re asking for is not possible in Texas, but they should know that. I believe other states require you to get the background done before the test.

I just called them, like you said, TX is different on hazmat. She said Texas is exception. She basically said I can apply to the school, then do the hazmat exam and background check after getting the CDL.
Thanks a lot boss, appreciate it.

Just an FYI, call Identigo and find out which comes first, but you get a discount if you get TWIC after HAZMAT, OR, HAZMAT after TWIC.

Its the same background and fingerprinting. But check with Identigo about which to do first in order to get the discount.

Background and fingerprints before you can get anything. It's threat assessment. Good for I think it's 5 years

I just got my CLP in Texas. Was told the same thing, cant take Hazmat until after getting CDL. My question is,what if you have a Texas CHL? Had to get fingerprinted at Indentigo for that as well, will I have to get finger printed all over again or can they not use those as they are already on file with the state?
