Must be all those toll roads. We don't have any. And our smokes are cheaper.

That's right and goes for TWIC card too.

You can find a list of disqualifying convictions if you search either one. The disqualifiers are reasonable. Some are for life, some are for a time period and some can be appealed. One of the few times they may have gotten something right.

As far as that goes you can get cleared for Canada for a price with some luck.

In Texas this is how they break down the fees.

The $68.25 fee referenced above is a non-refundable processing fee, which pays the following: $34.00 TSA threat assessment fee; $19.25 Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) criminal history processing fees, and $15.00 DPS criminal history processing fee.

DOT/FMCSA HAZMAT is covered at the following link: http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/safety-security/hazmat/hm-theme.htm

Also there is a $9.95 processing fee that goes to the fingerprinting vendor. The vendor will forward the finger prints, digital photo, and the $68.25 fee to our Department of Public Safety.

Then: "The Department will forward the applicant's fingerprints to the FBI. The FBI will forward any criminal history data about the applicant to TSA for them to make the final determination regarding HME eligibility. The applicant will be notified in writing of approval/disapproval for the endorsement. If approved, the Department will mail a new CDL to the applicant. The endorsement will expire on the expiration date of the CDL or 5 years from the TSA approval date, whichever comes first. If disapproved, the applicant will receive information on how to appeal the denial through TSA." Things really tightened up after 9/11.

I had mine from when I first got my class A CDL, then let it go when I had to get the background check. Now, this time during renewal, I went ahead and added it back. The company paid for it. Hassle factor was near zero for me, as the fingerprint facility happens to me within 2 miles of my house. I don't plan to haul Haz-Mat. I got it for one reason. I plan to apply to Landstar, and they require the endorsement.
