Does anybody know about getting a HAZMAT with a misdemeanor conviction? I'm in California... I looked at the form you give to TSA, and it only lists serious felonies and having been adjudicated to a mental institution as disqualifying.
I have a pc 243 (e)(1) misdemeanor DV charge from january 2010, and as part of that conviction, I was given a ban on firearms and transporting/possessing ammunition/firearms. I'm wondering if this in particular would prevent me from getting a HAZMAT. This is a Lautenberg firearms ban.
I've been told that the Misdemeanor most likely isn't the problem--but, as I understand it, a HAZMAT would mean that one would sometimes transport explosives/firearms/ammunition, and the Lautenberg ban might complicate getting the HAZMAT. Any input?

Well since it's handled at the federal level, I don't think California would have other requirements...but I might be wrong.

I thought ammunition fell under ORMD, which didn't require HAZ-MAT? Or does ORMD require HAZ-MAT? I've hauled ORMD without placards, maybe it wasn't enough for reportable quantity? Its been so long since I've had to mess with it, I've forgotten some of the simple stuff....

Ammunition over 250 lbs is no longer ORM-D.It's now an explosive Class 1.4
And per Lautenberg, you are not allowed to possess ammunition as well.
So ...
