I'm going to be taking a trucking class that starts at the end of this month. I've heard that HAZMAT is the biggest pain out of all the endorsements to get, I've been told you have to remember all the chemicals that your allowed to mix and can't mix and also have to re-take the HAZMAT test every other year.
can anyone help?

You have a book to consult as far as what can and cannot be loaded together while you're on the road. Yes, you do need to re-take the test every other year. You have to go through a background check to get the endorsement, along with taking the written test. Passing the written test isn't that difficult.

Maybe it's different where your at, but here in Delaware all we had to do is take the test, (which was easy) fill out the hazmat application and have a backround check done and get our finger prints done. Then our hazmat is good for 5 years.

Wow! 5 years there? Cool! WI was 2 years. I think they still are. I dropped the endorsement years ago, since I had used it twice, and they were still figuring out the background check thing when I had to renew my license. Not using the license at all right now.
AF461 Thanks this. -
Yes, I was suprised to hear that Delaware is 5 years. I lived in Arizona a few years back and it was only good for 2 years. Not sure why, but Delaware is nice to us now.

Nice to see some states being practical about that.

Maryland is the same way, take the test do fingerprint and background ck then renew 5yrs later when renew license.
-
Wow, I wish New Hampshires was good for 5 years.
Thanks for all the input -
Just took hazmat for the second time, and passed. First time I did not study. Study your state's book, and you should do fine.
