I start my CDL Training next week. I've been looking through all the information for weeks now. And there is something that is of major concern for me and that is that I may not be able to recieve HazMat Endorsement. How detrimental will this be to a carreer as a trucker? and If I can not obtain it is there any way to appeal the decision?

Alot of companies now want you to have a haz mat endorsement.I got T and X endorsement x is a tanker and haz mat combined...The test was very complex....The fingerprints were expensive. You will get two letters to take back to your dl office....Why do you think you cant get a haz mat endorsement?

Yeah but the cavity search was enjoyable.:biggrin_25523:

I missed more questions on the tanker test than on the hazmat.:biggrin_25513:

But at least now I can haul radioactive explosives in and out any port in the country.:biggrin_25526:

I was just joking about the explosives.

I just said I am qualified lol. Overqualified.

Looks like I'll be strictly hauling reefer, perishable produce and the like.

My Hazmat/tanker/doubles endorsement and TWIC aren't necessary, but it's nice to have all of them I suppose.

Exactly companies will look at your app a little closer.....Swift told me a while back that you will get hired faster since they want their drivers to have a haz mat :biggrin_2555:

I missed one question on the hazmat test.. When I asked the lady at the couner what the question was and what the correct answer was, she stated "It's not important...You passed"

    WTF?

Beats me - I took the test on a computer and it told you right away if you got the question right or wrong and what the right answer was.

Circa you be surprised what DOT considers to be Hazmat when shipped under certain conditions. It cost me $89.75 for my Hazmat Endorsement. Also have Hazmat gives you more oppurtunities for employment and loads.
