So, I don't haul much Hazmat, but can someone tell me what would happen if a driver is caught hauling one of the completely prohibited Hazmat classes through the tunnels on the PA turnpike?

According to state laws and federal regulations, hauling hazardous materials through a tunnel on the Pennsylvania Turnpike can result in a significant fine, typically ranging from several hundred dollars to thousands of dollars per violation, depending on the severity of the hazardous material and the specific circumstances of the infraction; in some cases, additional penalties like license suspension or criminal charges may also apply.

Not sure on the consequences but going forward please buy an Atlas or at pay for a truck specific GPS app that you can set up for HAZMAT

Very large fine, re-route and possible criminal charge. Troopers often sit on the outbound side of the eastbound tunnel of the Allegheny mountain, which is the first one going east, and the outbound side of the westbound tunnel of Blue Mountain, which is the first one going west.

That won't work for the Pennsylvania tunnels, at least if you have a Rand McNally GPS. The Pennsylvania tunnels ban some classes altogether, but other classes are only banned in bulk. The RM GPS doesn't discriminate between bulk and non bulk. Don't know about Garmin.

It’s interesting that somebody would bring this up. It reminds me of a question I once had years ago.

Corrosive can go through, but not in bulk containers according to the signs. Let’s say theoretically you have 20K lbs of batteries with nothing else on board. Despite the lack of bulk packaging that load still requires an ID placard. Would you still be subject to getting cited by a trooper who might think you’re loaded with totes?

Yes. You don't have to have bulk containers to qualify as a bulk shipment for hazmat purposes. If the hazardous material weighs over 8820 lbs in total, was loaded at one location, and there are no other hazardous materials on board, then the load qualifies as a bulk hazmat shipment regardless of the package size.
