HazMat restriction Atlanta I-285 NW?

My GPS refuses to route me with HazMat on I-285 from Chattanooga to Augusta, GA I-20 by going around East & South on I-285. It picks the long way around I-75 to I-285W past I-20, past I-85, past I-75, and then to I-20 E.

If you imagine I-285 around Atlanta as a clock and are coming from Chattanooga heading South, GPS wants me to enter 285 at "10 o'clock" position go counterclickwise past "6 o'clock" rather than shorter 10 o"clocl clockwise to 4 o'clock to I-20E to Augusta.

I always consult this link of Registry iof HazMat Routes, here's GA GEORGIA

No restriction shows up at the link above or in the pages at the front of my motor carrier road atlas. If I tell the GPS (RM 740) I'm not HazMat it will route me using the northeast section of I-285.

No hazmat restrictions on 285. Gas on it. Consult your commercial atlas instead of a gps.

Thanks for the reply. I've learned and driven CMVs before GPS. My road atlas is my primary guide. But the consequences of putting HazMat on a restricted route & my GPS freaking out about "no legal route" is hard to ignore. Too bad my road atlas doesn't provide street-level detail everywhere.

As you probably know as long as your on a interstate or a loop your pretty much ok with hazmat unless your near a tunnel i.e. Mobile, Baltimore etc. and then they have plenty of warning signs.

Update.. a few sections of the East side of I-285 did have incorrect HazMat restrictions. This has been resolved and will reflect in the next map set. In testing now.

This. I don't know of any Interstate tunnel where hazmat is allowed.

I take that back there are some short tunnels on 80 in Wyoming

Just a guess, but the airport runway crossing over 285 may be the reason.

After the landing strip was finished, the police would run off any trucks parked on the side and under the runway pretty fast.
