hazmat verses nonhazmat for a hotshot

how are cars considered hazmat..????

hazmat to me means, paints, paint thinner, tankers full of gasoline, oils, etc,etc.

the amount of gasoline in a car is nil, compared to a tanker.

and why not call the FMCSA, they are there cuz we pay for them.....(in a way).

 

autos are not Haz Mat.; neither is 'farm equipment'

 

Get the HazMat. It can save your bacon in some areas. Especially with the number of carriers no longer requiring it.

correct, now if he had a shipment of car batteries, of cigarette lighters or paint, or carboys of acids (all like i did) then yes, those are samples of hazmat loads

 

Cars are not hazmat loads by the nature of them.

Whoever is feeding you this myth is in danger of misleading you in this industry in ways that can hurt you financially if not also cause you to lose your freedom improperly handling or getting into Hazmat. It is a very specific type of hauling and not for everyone. If you don't possess good valid facts about Hazmat such as the misconception that cars are. (Which they are not...) you are strongly encouraged to LEAVE HAZMAT ALONE. Don't play or touch it. Leave it. You have plenty to worry about running a business in the holiday time without any of that stuff in your life. You do not need Hazmat.

 

Get the Haz-Mat. It will open up more revenue streams for you.

 

With the'Limited quantity' exemption, butane lighters and cans of spray paint and the like are no longer considered Haz Mat due to the small quantities in consumer packaging...unless it is international. IMO dangerous goods has a placard for that...

 

i can recall hauling a trailer load of BIC cigarette lighters, but i cannot recall the placard i had to have, i'm thinking "flammable"....for the amount i had, and "dangerous for a smaller amount i had another time.

but it has been like 20 years now, so i could be wrong.
