Give your recruiter a call. It would be better to let them know before hand.
Don't hold me to this, I'm just thinking with a keyboard, that may require you to be out of a different OC. But SNI is usually accommodating if possible.
You must like it hot!!
Just curious, why do you think NE would be too much, being in Md, there really isn't much difference in the fourwheelers.
Headed for Indianapolis for Orientation August 7th...

If this is any indication about how Schneider is willing to work with its employees, I just got a call from their office in PA approving my request for home time before heading out with my Training Engineer. I'll be officially ready to roll as of August 23rd. God is good!
one37 Thanks this. -
Good on ya!! That's a small example, I think you'll like it!

Sitting outside Syracuse , NY for my 10 hour break. MEt with TE this morning, spent an hour getting out of Dollar General. I was concerned because my TE took charge and started driving, I was wondering if I would ever get a chance! They had I271 shut down and we spent a bit more than 2 hours going just about 10 miles! Finally got on the wheel and logged about 300 miles today. Did several things today I never have done, and some I never even knew about. Either way, the day was a success. Our first drop was 635 miles , and with the delay, we didnt stand a chance to make it . Tomorrow it is. Probably be tooling around NY state for next three days delivering to DG. Will update when I can, but again I see today as a success!
On a sour note, my TE was on vacation last week and someone used his truck while he was gone, so it is a little trashed, and more importantly the A/C must have went out and nobody said anything about it. TE said it is not likely that we will get around to getting it fixed in the time I am here. While we did not bake in the 90 degree heat with windows down, it would have been nice to have.

Schneider has been really good working with us. My first tour of duty after orientation with hubby I developed some sort of allergic reaction and my eye swelled which then proceeded to involve my face and arms. We were going to stay out a month but a week into it I called our DBL and explained the situation and asked if we could change our home time request. No problem. For another occasion, we have been out for 5 weeks which gives us 5 days home time. We would be due to launch this Wednesday. However my husband needs to get his background check for hazmat and fingerprinting is only done on Wednesday here. We called our DBL and told him and he allowed us an extra day home to get this done.

I can say they did all they could for me. It's just that nothing could be worked out due to me, not Schneider. If I ever can get back out, SNI will be my first stop.
PCDoctor Thanks this. -
No, actually just thinking of other options.. kinda was second guessing my choice of the NE Regional.
I am going to stay with it, I hate traffic, thats all. I do live in MD, and have dealt with the DC Area rush hour almost everyday of my working life, so I am not worried, just sick of it
And by the way, I like it cold

East coast traffic, they're a treat aren't they? You'll spend a lot of time off that I95 corridor, but you will use it!

There are a lot of very nice areas in the NE, once you get away from the cities, and the 4wheelers actually will give you a break in the small towns, not all the time, but quite a lot. I've likely got more than one screw loose, since I like getting in those small towns in the east. A lot of neat old buildings to look at, beautiful country, and the customers pretty good as well. The only draw back there, is the lack of parking, you need to ask the customer if you can stay there, and a lot of them just told me to stay out of the way, and no problem.
Cold can be good!!! Kills the "skeeters", and keeps the tourists away!!!

Had a good post and i lost my connection before I posted so I will give you the readers digest condensed version.
YEsterday we were running a couple hours behind because of being stuck in a stand still going around an accident. Maybe lost 3 hours in that mess. I drove about 350 miles headed from Zanesville, Ohio to Fair Heaven, Vermont. I drove 80% of the mile. I found a bad steer tire during the PTI, So we lost another couple hours getting that replaced this morning. At least I know the procedure. I also learned the meaning of "Hand Unload", as we dropped off 2400 cartons to 2 stores. I never understood how much you could fit inside a trailer! We parked at a TA and I had to back into the very last spot on the lot. I also got to wait about 30 minutes to take my first "truck stop shower. Not as bad as I have heard it could be, but not the same as home.
Today was a better day. WE had to stop and drop off some shipping carts and totes, and pick up a back haul. HOwever, most of the day was actual driving. I got in 578 miles, drove 10:45 , and my body and mind cooperated today. I feel that I can consistently drive that amount of time and distance. I wish I could spend more time coupling and un coupling, and lots more time backing into different situations, but I am happy to be getting drive time. I have not gotten an indication of whether I will be released this week to go to my SQT , but maybe in the next day or so I will know more. WE still do not have any A/C, but we are trying to get routed close to an OC to have it fixed. My luck we will get there Saturday, fixing it when it wont matter to me, but keeping me away from home longer than I was supposed to be. Overall I am very happy with my TE and all he is teaching me, even things we do not encounter he is teaching me verbally while we drive.

So busy working, not enough time to post...
The good news is the AC is scheduled to get fix in Carlisle this Tuesday when the regular PM is scheduled. The better news is I will be in INDY taking my SQT!
Thursday I spent the day doing the paperwork required to advance...Some trip planning, some other required paperwork, alot of discussion, and some things I just did not understand. My TE said to get the paperwork done, and the driving ahead of us would not present me with any new challenges or skills. I only drove about 20 total miles today but I spent about 4 hours in Tunkhannock, PA at an old P&G drop / relay yard coupling and uncoupling, backing 45',48',53' trailers, sliding 5th wheels and moving tandoms. Spent the night in Mill Hall, PA. Spent a couple more hours doing paperwork to prepare for my SQT.
This Morning I was told I would be advanced once I finished this load. 290 miles in about 5.5 hours, perfect drive back to the Zanesville, OH Dollar General DC. Unloaded truck, thanked my TE, and headed home. My TE told me he never advanced anyone in 6 days before, but did not know if aditional training would be fruitful since I was doing everything on my own. The rest I will have to learn as I go and on my own, but felt I had all the knowledge and tools to do so.
So I am home for a nice 4 day break before heading back out to INDY for my SQT. So many questions about my dedicated account and employment, but I guess I just need to do my part and I will get all my answers soon enough.
