any one going to Trenton in april from pa. area? got the invite to go today. want to see if anyone who has gone threw it can tell me a little about the loan repayment, meaning is it only bal. of the 2,000. and when u get threw training can u go home first? want to drive myself to school but don't want to leave car at training site. also heard after u are threw with trainer u may wait on a truck to go solo. and can any of u drivers tell me what ur home time ranges from . do u get home weekly or10- 14 days? sorry for all the questions but want to make right decision. read mostly good stuff on millis and I am hopping it is true. really want to do this but like most of u out there don't want to make a mistake. thank u in advance for any info u can give me.!!

That would be good if they leave the van there too. jw new castle, The way they explained the school costs when i question them was this. You pay for the school $2000.00 and the Motel room which they said is somewhere between 30.00 and 35.00 a night. They take 20.00 week out for school and 10.00 a week out for motel until paid for. Basically about $30.00 a week. If you do the math it would take you about 2 years to pay it off. They said most drivers pay it off early when they get going good and have the extra cash flow.
Now the over the road training while with a trainer costs an additional $2500.00. But this portion is forgiven if you stay with them 1 year. This is also how my paperwork reads that they send to you once you pay your $100.00 deposit.
Hope this helps.jw new castle Thanks this. -

Yes they will take $20 out for the training and $10 out for the hotel per week. The other $2500 is forgiven after 1 year. so you are left with $2000 to pay back plus the hotel. I honestly dont even realize the money coming out. I will have a year in on May 9th. I stayed in the hotel only durring the week so 15 days. plus the 3 days of orientation for a total of 18 days. if you stay the whole time you can add 6 more days for the weekends bringing your total to 24. if it is $30 a night that would be 720 dollars. so it would take you 72 weeks to pay that off. I thought someone said it was $25 a night if you had a roommate. so my 18 days at $25 bucks would be $450. so 45 weeks. i should be done soon. but i will still be paying the $20 a week for school. So unless you are thinking of moving on to another company i wouldnt worry about it. Its like an intrest free loan.
Second question about the going home. durring the last week of class Bill will ask you when you would like to go out with your trainer. I decided to go right away on the last day of orientation because i wanted to get it over with and into my own truck asap. but another guy in my class went home for a week and a half. so it is up to you. your vehicle will be safe at trenton. there are a bunch of personal vehicles parked there. plus its out in the boonies so no one is going to go out there to mess with your car. when we were at the hotel we just left our vehicles in the hotel parking lot.
Next on the trucks. When you test out they look at the lot and see what trucks are ready for drivers and you basically get what they have there. if for some reason there isnt a truck ready you might be put into another driver's truck to hitch a ride to a different terminal to pick up a truck or your trainer may take you. just depends on dispatch. but i have seen a few trucks sitting at most terminals. Hometime is whenever you want. I am regional so i go home every weekend. We only run monday thru friday. sometimes on saturdays too. But when i was otr i used to stay out for 2-3 weeks before taking home time. you can go home every weekend if you want but your pay wont be as good. basically when you are ready for hometime you put in a request for hometime on the qualcomm. then your dispatcher will do his best to route you home by that date. I never had an issue with getting home in time for my scheduled hometime.
Millis is a great company with great drivers that are almost all willing to help you or let you pick their brains. I never had an issue with miles while OTR and even now in regional. you made a good choice. Welcome.B.A, rarudi, jw new castle and 1 other person Thank this. -
Well I'm all packed and ready to roll out Tomorrow morning. Looks like I'll be driving my car there, Hopefully can leave it at terminal and go out with trainer straight from school. Pretty excited to get started I'll probably be pacing around the house later making sure I got everything lol. Called Millis last week and asked about the class time, They say bill will be at hotel at 7:30 probably earlier and he is very prompt. Also said there will be 12 in class.

Samurai, thanks for the info much appreciated !! Will be driving my car there too. Will probably still take it home before going with a trainer if possible that way the wife has a backup car if her's goes down. Hopefully my brother who drives for Heartland will make it in next weekend. If he does and everything works out I plan on meeting him in Louisville the 23rd for the truck show. Wife and i usually go every year but he's never been .

jw, you made a good choice with Millis I too am from new castle, so far I have no complaints miles are pretty decent, home time hasn't been a problem I normally get a delivery no more than a hour away except this last time I delivered in Brookville, Pa which is about 1.5 hours from NC, while out during training trainer would pick me up and drop me off at the pilot in portersville, we travel I-80 quite often so I see no problems getting picked up. Welcome aboard
jw new castle Thanks this.
