ramloghauler,
Like you...I'm not a big guy, when I weighed in during orientation I weighed 155 lbs. (6' tall)
I've gained a few pounds since then (that was almost 2 years ago) and I'm up to 165 lbs (all muscle...LOL)
Anyway,
Don't let anybody tell you what you can or cannot do...I don't know if you are the same, but while I may not be very big I am in excellent shape and pretty #### strong for my size (farm raised country boy)...and I can throw tarps and chains as good as any driver out there. (usually in about 1/2 the time it takes most others)....Ed and some others had their doubts about me too when I was NLR, they never said it but I saw it when I threw that tarp up there like a bale of hay...like it was nothing...don't hold it against them (or Maverick), its part of their job to weed out the ones not cut out for it...and flat bed trucking IS NOT for everybody.
Work smarter, not harder...
EDIT: I had a lot more posted, about that Boyd driver...but I'll leave that for your trainer to clarify.

Well, got in a day early this week. Didn't even leave out until Monday morning and got home Thursday evening. Still got 2500 for the week.
Started out delivering 20 miles from the house, then to Charlotte with a Wallingford CT load. Over to Albany NY to Richmond VA, then Jarrat VA to Dekalb Il for Monday. Not bad. Nothing else to report really.
Ramloghauler, hope things are going well. I think you said this is your last week with your trainer.

Coming up on my last week with my trainer. I'm a little nervous but excited at the same time. I still need to work on my Trip Planning though. We are going to Royal Oak, MI for a Monday night delivery of gray bar. BTW, if you guys go to Mac Steel, we had to wait 15hrs to get loaded, again. Does anyone know why we have to take shingles from Tamko in Dallas, TX to the Tamko in Joplin, MO? It seems a little redundant to take the same product from place to same place at another facility.

That is normal. You will also pick up coils from one plant and take to another plant in another state.

Take your time and do it right the first time so you dont have to do it a second time. Learn from your mistakes and try not to repeat them. and hey, now you'll have something to complain about in the liars lounge or out on one upper's way when other drivers are standing around telling war stories.
Hang in there...it gets better, than worse, than better, than b4 you know it, someone will come up to you and tell you something like, "its my 1st load by myself or I've never loaded this stuff before." and the knowledge and experience you have retained will help someone else. Its a good feeling.Ridgerunner665 and dollylama Thank this. -
LOL.
Miles are miles no matter what is following us on our trailer. I do ask alot of places what they make out of the stuff we haul into them but the above posed question, if you ask it to a tamko employee, it may be mistaken for you being a smart&*% so better left unasked.
be safe.

Been out for two weeks when I get back to the board. All I hear is complaining somebody must be taking sissies pills. Flatbeding is not for sissies. Wanted a hard job. If not that's what people pull boxes for its easy. LOL hope you all have a good week. Drive safe.

the long waits at Macsteel are a given, just give em' your phone number and go to bed.
