Yeah I like variety, I've hauled just about everything from cars, heavy equipment, 15' wide jail cells, bridge beams you name it. They get out west at all?

If you are asked to come aboard, you will not just haul glass, but lumber, steel, vehicles, spiral staircases, catalysts, radiators, etc. There will be plenty of challenges besides the glass hauling! Last 3 weeks--3 loads of glass, 2 coil loads, 1 catalyst load, and 1 gray bar load. My only gripe--all had to be tarped!:biggrin_25523:

Jim, I have been reading your posts for awhile now. I love your attitude! Many of the people who post on these sites have an ax to grind but refuse to look in the mirror to see who's at fault. You have a refreshing attitude Sir, and I commend you!
I will be 47 in a few weeks and entering school for my CDL. I am very interested in flats. I love a challenge and not afraid of hard work. I'm in great shape and don't want to turn into a tub of goo behind the wheel. So I thinks I'd like the gym membership benefit you are enjoying. 99% of the people I ask about flats tell me don't walk away, RUN! Interesting thing is they have never driven flats, just vans. So once again I commend you on telling it like it is. Why these flatbed company's have so muck turn over is any body's guess, but I'm sure attitude plays a huge part.

    Thanks,

    Seawheeler

Oh well so much for maverick I guess. They were gonna put me through their student training program because I havent been on the road in 7 years until my 21 year old felony for conspiracy to robbery came up. It's a no go.

Hey don't give up and don't feel down about yourself. There is plenty of other outfits out there. I was going to join maverick but decided not to because of the standard they have about getting twic cards. I live on about the area of NY, and If I wanted to get a twic card I would have stayed local, make more money, and be home everyday. Guess what? I found a outfit local that runs OTR, and pays the same as me going to maverick in glass division, and no twic or passport needed :yes2557: Not knocking maverick I am sure they are a great company from what the drivers that post here state.

There is a pot of gold over that rainbow. Don't give up.

Yeah I hear ya, I'm just bummed. I really wanted to get on with them. I'm a good guy and their a great company. Not many out there like them and I'll starve before I settle for the norm thats out there. I'm gonna try to get my passport and twic on my own this week and call them back. Seems that was their main concern I wouldnt be able to get those.

I'm not sure if you can get a twic with a past felony and I really don't care about twic cards lol they can keep them.

    Good luck.

That just doesn't make sense...the TWIC is easy to get, it makes getting in the ports MUCH, MUCH quicker...

    Whats the big deal?

Before TWIC I absolutely HATED going into ports (the wait, the searches, etc.)...now I just drive up, show the TWIC, go on in and get loaded...whats not to like about that?
