Now for some facts concerning the statements you made.
1. I have over 26 years in trucking so no I am not a newbie, as you seem to like to call anyone that disagrees with you.
2. If you with your 14 years experience are bringing home only $900 a week how can you say that $800 a week bring home, which translates to around 50K a year is not a good for a driver these days,it is excellent pay for driver new to the industry. I would also like to know how long you stay out and if you run legal (the day of the outlaw is coming to an end) as this greatly effects the amount a driver makes.
3. I don't recall anyone on here stating that sitting and waiting to load is normal. Your statement that Maverick will not pay detention for MacSteel is incorrect as Maverick will pay drivers detention whether they get paid or not, however you do have to follow proper procedure.
4. Another incorrect statement is your remark concerning turnover. Compared to most large OTR companies Maverick has an above average turnover as they run around 75%. The average for the industry is 100%.
How many companies have you worked for in your 14 years?
5. During my 2 years with Maverick I averaged 2300 miles per week and was home on weekends 95% of the time. I was making $.44 per mile when I left this too is above industry average. If you were only doing 1500 to 2000 miles then you evidently need to learn how to manage your time better.
6. Not in your post but another reason to work with Maverick is the quality of equipment. Before you complain about the auto-shifts I know there are a lot of drivers ,myself included, who do not like them, however you can't argue the fact that Maverick has good equipment and does a fairly good job of maintaining their trucks.
7. Is Maverick perfect? No,however they are above average for a large carrier and I will continue to give them the credit they are do.
One more item we need to discuss is where you are working now, as I believe it would be beneficial to all.Firebird, sewerman, notarps4me and 2 others Thank this. -
whatever dude........ALL the drivers that have problems at maverick must be their own fault.......there is that what you are looking for?Last edited: Mar 11, 2011

A trucking company is like a wife you need to find one that you put up with them and they can put up with you. Why won't you say who you are working for now. -
Who are the select few that get "the miles"? Only drivers that are assigned to dedicated routes are the one's who's miles are consistant.
Most Maverick drivers are forced dispatch they call, we haul and miles from week to week do vary. Typically as you should know since you say you've driven 15 years, there is the winter slowdown from Christmas til mid March or so until freight picks back up, so i'm curious:
1. how long you put up with "stupid stuff" at Maverick before you quit?
2. how many weeks or months and which months were you employed by Maverick?
3. Did you go out with a Driver Trainer or did you have at least 6 mos OTR with the same carrier which would qualify you for a higher starting per mile pay?
4. Are you still driving? flatbed? box? or just sick of the industry all together and got out of it due to CSA2010?
Please share with details, enquiring minds would love to hear your story.
