Now I know why things changed so suddenly...I got a new (brand new one, just trained as I understand it) FM and didn't even know it until yesterday.

He has done good so far...except not letting me get a restart every week. I been running for 2 weeks straight, getting a restart every other week.
Thats kinda OK though...I usually run myself out of hours the first week (appx. 25-2800 miles runnin legal), then limp around running off my recap the next.
Its actually makin for some decent paydays...
I only found out because he asked me if I wanted to leave my RDO set up on 26 days (length of time between home visits)...the options are 5, 12, or 26 days.
My other FM had it set at 26 days per my request for more miles...less home. -
Well it was an exciting week. Went all the way up to Minnesota with a coil that we picked up from Granite City. Loaded 3 miles away with a load of shingles headed for North Carolina. Got held up going through Chicago for over an hour. We stopped in Gary Indiana for the night and headed south. We only had 3.5 hours left on our 70 so we are in Indiana at the New Castle Exit doing or 34.
When I was up in Granite City, I got pulled over by the police. The funny thing is that there was another Maverick driver following me. When he saw the cop, he pulled into a parking lot and headed the other way. The cop tells me I am overweight. I almost laughed, becasue I was thinking, you should have seen me two hours ago when I came in here. He said since I was making a local delivery, I was ok.
Next week I have to do everything all by myself with no help from the trainer.
He is just going to observe. I told him that I was going to choose the music we listen to as well...no country for a week...yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If all goes well, and we both agree, I will get to eval out (take a test) and be assigned my own truck. I will keep you posted!
God Bless!
I drove around 2600 miles this week. -
Well I am getting the full experience of spending the weekend in a truck stop.
I have been taking walks all around the perimeter. There is a pond so I can imagine that I am somewhere other than here. I am glad that I have this computer and air card....else I would have to read. I got to watch a very good church service on the tv this morning in the drivers lounge. I was looking forward to another one, but the station started showing infomercials.
We are planning on heading out at midnight for NC. My concern is that I will not have much if any sleep before we head out. If I get too tired, then my trainer is going to take over.
I will keep you posted.Ops85, The Challenger, Cooper09 and 3 others Thank this. -
We headed out this morning at 12:00 midnight and delivered in North Carolina.
We now have our next load which is picking up a load of particle board and taking it to Indiana. If all things continue, I will be ready to eval out and get my own truck.
I am starting to get my inverter, cb, and all the goodies ready for the new ride! The Challenger, JustSonny, dollylama and 1 other person Thank this. -
My trainer got to go home this weekend, so I am in Carrolton Ky again. Not too bad, King size bed, plasma tv, microwave and refrig, free breakfast, free coffe and fruit all day long ect....
We are on our way to Iowa with a 47,000 lb load of steel. 40' and 20' sections.
Once we deliver on Monday they will start routing me back to Little Rock to eval out and get my own truck.
I am looking forward to setting my own pace and making my own decisions.JustSonny, notarps4me, Cooper09 and 3 others Thank this. -
Glad to hear you are doing well...keep it up !!
The Challenger and JimTheHut Thank this. -
Good luck Jim. You'll do just fine and pass with flying colors. How is your night driving? Whats your favorite time to drive?
KHJimTheHut Thanks this.
